Vice President of Advancement

The Vice President of Advancement is part of the senior leadership team and reports to the President and CEO. The Vice President plans, directs, and implements a comprehensive development program. This position drives new revenue through multiple avenues as well as maintains and elevates current investors and donors. The Vice President of Advancement supervises a staff currently comprised of a Director of Grant Management and Advancement Program Coordinator. This is a hands-on, roll-up-your sleeves position that also requires immense diplomacy skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all fundraising activities, including designing and implementing strategies to generate increased revenue.
  • Build and maximize relationships with a portfolio of prospects that exceeds an annual fundraising goal of $10 million.
  • Possess extensive experience with proposal and report writing as IYI’s revenue is secured largely through grants (84%) and government contracts (13%).
  • Develop and execute strategic and creative engagement plans for all levels of donors and prospects.
  • Collaborate extensively with internal team members to understand the current service needs of the youth services field.
  • Dedicate significant time to sharing IYI’s impact with supporters and prospects.
  • Establish annual grant, sponsor, and individual giving goals and determine the priority activities to be undertaken.
  • Develop fundraising plans, tactics, and tools to implement the strategies calibrated to achieve critical advancement goals and objectives.
  • Track Advancement outcomes and analyze results.
  • Ensure appropriate metrics are in place and create benchmark reports for the President and CEO, CFO, and Board of Directors.
  • Participate in financial planning, budget preparation, and develop related advancement and fundraising projections.
  • Partner with finance to enhance and maintain gift processing policies and procedures as well as to ensure thorough and accurate record-keeping.
  • Lead members of the advancement team and provide effective professional development training and coaching.
  • Ensure key performance indicators are tracked and reported.
  • Continually develop and refine strategies to advance fundraising performance.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of advancement office policies, procedures, and systems to ensure the highest level of credibility and integrity of fundraising efforts.
  • Manage the Advancement department’s annual operating budget and revenue plan.

Requirements

  • Minimum of seven years professional experience in public sector fundraising. Master's degree and/or CFRE preferred.

Compensation and Benefits: IYI offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience in a similar position. The salary range for this position is $105,000-$127,500. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range of minimum and midpoint depending on experience and in alignment with internal equity. We offer a comprehensive benefits plan, covering the majority of the employee premium for the base medical plan and offering other benefits including dental and vision plans, disability, life insurance, generous vacation time, professional development, and a 403(b) plan.  

Working Conditions: We are a remote-first organization, meeting in person for mission-critical events and projects, this includes weekly leadership meetings and monthly all-staff meetings. Although employees are located across Indiana, we maintain Eastern Standard Time office hours. To maintain safety, anyone visiting the office must upload vaccination proof and be comfortable with testing protocols.

COVID-19 Vaccination Policy: IYI requires all employees to be "up to date" with COVID-19 vaccines by your employment start date. This would include either: 
  • A full primary series of an FDA-approved vaccine and at least one booster vaccine. 
  • Or you received the full primary series of an FDA approved vaccine in the last 5 months and are therefore not eligible to receive a booster vaccine. After the 5 months conclude, you will need to receive a booster vaccine or will no longer be "up to date". 

IYI will consider requests for exemptions from the vaccination policy due to medical conditions or religious belief. You will be required to provide proof of vaccination at the time of hire and/or on your first day of employment. Our vaccination protocols are subject to applicable laws and will be updated from time to time to reflect evolving conditions and federal, state, local, and other applicable health and safety guidelines.
